Welcome!!

Villages Softball Association is a program for girls ages 6 - 15 focused on having fun, developing basic skills, and promoting healthy competition.  The girls will play both intra-league and inter-league games primarily in St. Augustine but no further than Jacksonville.

6-8 league age division (8U)

Pitching mound set at 35' and bases at 60'.  The games are 6 innings but no new inning after 1 hour and 20 minutes.  The Louisville Slugger catapult pitching machine is used for this division.  Each batter has up to 5 pitches to hit a fair ball which increases action at the plate and in the field.  This is an excellent way to continue teaching the fundamentals of the game and building player confidence.

8-10 league age division (10U)

Pitching mound set at 35' and bases at 60'.  The games are 6 innings but no new inning after 1 hour and 20 minutes.  The players are introduced to live pitching at this level. Players are allowed to steal multiple bases including home, but not lead off. Offensively the bunt is allowed in this division. Prior to a pre-established date in both Spring and Fall seasons, no walks are allowed in this age division. After four balls, a coach from the offensive team pitches until a fair ball is hit or three strikes occur. After the pre-established date, standard Babe Ruth softball rules apply. Stealing is allowed after the release of the pitch. Among teammates of their own age and experience level, players continue building and refining their fundamental skills while they begin to understand game.

10-12 league age division (12U)

Pitching mound set at 40' and bases at 60'.  The games are 6 innings but no new inning after 1 hour and 20 minutes.  In this age division pitchers are more experienced; thus, the no walk rule does not apply. Stealing is allowed after the release of the pitch. This age division is often an avenue to prepare girls for middle school softball. However, beginners are welcome and can learn and improve their skills by competing with and against more experienced players.

13-18 league age division (14/16/18)

Pitching mound set at 43' and bases at 60'.  The games are 7 innings but no new inning after 1 hour and 20 minutes.  This age division is more advanced.  Much work will be put into advanced hitting, bunting and overall game strategy.  Playing time is earned in practice and kept in games.  This age division will feature many girls who play middle school softball as well. However, beginners are welcome and can learn and improve their skills by competing with and against more experienced players.
